(Solved) - Office 2007 problem after system restore

My computer came with Office 2007 Home and Student 60-day trial version installed. I purchased a license key for it online (I have the product key #). My computer crashed, and I restored system from mfgr. disc. It installed Office 2007 Home and Student 60-day trial version again.

Problem: I cannot get the application to accept my purchased product key and getting help from Microsoft is like going to the moon on a tricycle. I am an advanced user and wonder if I can edit the registry to accept my purchased key? (You can no longer download a trial key from Microsoft for 2007--they want you to go to 2010. I want them to go to ....).

Help, please.

Problem solved, no thanks to microsoft but simply perserverance and a little knowledge on my part on how to change registry values.

How did you sort it? I have 2007 ultimate (cd and key)
I have just had to restore to factory settings and i keep getting the message that my product key is not valid.
I paid a fortune for this and i am not getting anywhere from microsoft.

I looked on my system and see what I think is the product key encrypted.

I have got it sorted, won't say how cause it was probably a bit dodgy (i had paid full whack for the cd and key, microsoft were not doing anything for me to get it going, so had no choice.)

My idea failed, it lasted a day and now it is telling me it is not activated, still refuses to though.
Where abouts am i looking in the registry? bearing in mind i do not know much about where to look.
I can find my way with simple instructions though.
What do i do when i find it?

Do you have the product key? Open word and click on the ORB then Word Options> Resources> About Word. There should be the product key.
Open the registry>edit>find> enter your product number then search. It is listed in 3 seperate places.
It will find product key > enter your key

I checked and my product key shows up, so i opened regedit and searched for it.
Came up with

Tried to find the others but they are not there, i did find this though and it has my key in it.

I presume that was that name because i have office ultimate, not enterprise.

I am just wondering, i am pretty sure i copied the whole of the drive before i restored to factory settings, can i copy anything from that to make it think it is activated?
Like i say, i have the cd and the key so i know it is all proper and genuine.
I presume that this is happening because i am trying to reinstall and for some reason microsoft must be thinking i am trying to install on a second machine, there is no hardware changes so i do not know why.

have you got a ID number . you can use that to re-activate your copy, you just click on activate by phone, give them the ID number above the 6/7 blank

box's then the automated operator will read back 5/7 lots of numbers you just type in the blank box's then click 'activate' it should say successful

First thing i tried, i rang and entered the number, says the same, product key not valid.
Last time i had a problem, i rang and a human picked up the other end and everything was sorted. seems you can't speak to anyone now, tried emailing numerous times before i got a responce, all they said is that i need to buy another copy, no reason why, they do not say it is not genuine, probably because is is genuine. They mentioned that i could pay for some dort of support.
All they want to do is get more money off me, never mind that they had tons of it when i got it in the first place.

Make a restore point or system image.
If you don't have Revo Uninstaller then download & install before proceeding http://www.revouninstaller.com/
Uninstall all office apps. Then clean the registry of all office entries.
Reboot and check again. Remove anymore entries to MS office you find.
Reboot and reinstall, enter your key. lol
